Which is a long winded and fairly incoherent way of saying "Sorry I've not blogged in so long. I don't think its healthy to beat myself up over it it so I'm trying not to. Hope that's cool. Have an overextended metaphor."
You're welcome/sorry, as you prefer.
Oh, um, by the way...
WE ARE STILL ALIVE!
Well anyway, we were in
In case you were wondering about the size of the cast it's probably worth mentioning We have always proceeded on the agreement that every 'Nut doesn't have to be every performance without detriment to their Nut status. Those who didn't perform in Blue Pixie were still a part of it, named it, shaped it and gave Gerald people to turn to in desperation when those on stage lost it in a frenzy of enthusiastic if incomprehensible "improvisation".
After the weighty subject matter of Little Cuts, we were letting our hair down for Blue Pixie and I think shows. Set on a decommissioned space Route Master orbiting [unnamed pink planet] we (well me and Lyanne) aimed for a cross between Red Dwarf (see what we did there?) and Firefly. Gerald then Geralded magnificently and the result was so much fun I'm surprised it was legal.
The performance went well and we adapted well to trifling matters like THE FREAKING LAYOUT WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TO HOW WE HAD PLANNED AND REHEARSED!!! with laid back ease (omfgwtafbbq!) The audience loved us, darling.
Blue Pixie meets The Curse of Lover's Folly
Kevin Palmer, known to Gerald from their time in I Can't Believe We're Not Better, wrote, directed, acted in and funded The Curse of Lover's Folly at The Pump House and invited us into the programme. We appeared alongside his company, Aspire Amateur Dramatic Society, who "aim to raise awareness and educate people about autism, mental health and other disabilities featuring many issues facing people with these conditions." Kindred spirits or wot?
This was our first time on a raised stage which is the sort of thing that is really exciting and bloody intimidating. This was our first GM free performance as the director was otherwise engaged which resulted in some serious jitters and a few hi-jinx to cope with said nerves.
